Martin Schönteich is Senior Legal Officer for National Criminal Justice Reform. Before joining Justice Initiative in May 2003, he worked as a senior researcher for the Institute for Security Studies’ Crime and Justice Programme in Pretoria, South Africa. He worked as Parliamentary Affairs Manager for the South African Institute of Race Relations in 1997-98, where he undertook policy related advocacy and research work on issues affecting criminal justice and civil liberties in South Africa. For three years, Martin worked as a public prosecutor for the South African Department of Justice. He is an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
