Global Campaign for Pretrial Justice: Africa Regional Retreat
In December 2010, the Open Society Justice Initiative and the Open Society Foundations Global Criminal Justice Fund convened an Africa regional retreat as part of the ongoing Global Campaign for Pretrial Justice. The retreat brought together 30 organizations from ten countries in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as a number of international and regional organizations.
The retreat explored current strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges for organizations in the region. It focused on a number of practical activities and scoped out upcoming advocacy opportunities. Organizations agreed to continue regular exchange and joint activities and adopted a common statement for Human Rights Day 2010.
